President Paul Kagame has said that global health is a responsibility for everyone.

“Global health is a paramount responsibility for all of us, especially leaders. It also has wide security implications,” Kagame wrote on Twitter following his meeting with visiting World Health Organization Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

Thank you @DrTedros for remarkable work, Kagame added.

On his part, the WHO boss tweeted: “It was a real honor to meet with President @PaulKagame. I thanked him for his leadership and political support for Universal Health Coverage. Rwanda is doing an amazing job for Health For All.”

Speaking earlier, Dr Tedros reiterated WHO’s commitment to supporting the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the health sector in Rwanda.

“Rwanda is one of the model countries in health care coverage because of the integration between services offered at the village level and the centre,” said the former Ethiopian foreign minister.
