Fifteen people have won smart phones in the ongoing Equity Bank digital banking competition. The customers were selected by different local radio stations after answering correctly questions on Equity Bank’s Eazzy banking suite of e-banking solutions.

The winners  walked away with a brand new Huawei smartphone each.

Athanasie Niragira, the head of marketing and customers experience at Equity Bank, said that the competition was aimed at raising awareness about digital banking options provided by the bank and their (customers’) experience while using them.

The Eazzy banking range of solutions include applications that enable money transfer to or from their bank accounts, check balance, pay bills or buy airtime, and when one can acquire micro-loans, Niragira said while speaking at the prize giving function at the financial institution’s head offices in Kigali.

Niragira explained that the bank’s Eazzy loan platform enables customers to apply and access small loans on their mobile phones, while the Eazzy net app allows for internet banking.

Eazzy pay facilitates business transactions enabling users to pay for items instead of using cash, she added.

Rose Iribagiza, the head of payments at the bank, said the digital products give customers control, convenience and flexibility in the banking process.

To use the apps, one can dial *555# and follow instructions.

Winners speak out

Sarah Murungi, a student of Nu Vision High School, is one of the 15 winners.

Murungi was inspired by the smartphone to open a student’s account with Equity Bank. "After all, opening an account accessing all the digital banking platform is free of charge,” she said.

Arnold Boya, another winner  and a resident of Nyamirambo, a Kigali suburb, said the Eazzy banking range of solutions will ease access to the bank’s services.

He added that he answered correctly all six questions asked by the presenter at one of the city radio stations.
