Over 200 register for Miss Rwanda auditions

The search for Miss Rwanda 2018 is progressing well, with more than 202 girls set for the auditions.

Miss Rwanda 2018 pageant was launched on December 13 by Rwanda Inspiration Back-Up, organisers of the pageant.

Dieudonee Ishimwe, the CEO of Rwanda Inspiration Back-Up said auditions will kick off on January 13 in Musanze District, in Northern Province while on January 14, Miss Rwanda 2018 pre-selection event will go to Rubavu District, Western Province. On January 20, the exercise will be held in Huye District, Southern Province. The exercise will then proceed to Kayonza, Eastern Province on January 21, before rounding up in Kigali City on January 27.

According to the organisers, the girls who will make it through the auditions will contest in pre-selections, where 30 girls will compete and only 20 will be selected for the boot camp, where they will undergo various activities to empower them to showcase their individual talents in the grand finale.

The 2018 contest has maintained the same theme used in the last contest which is "Beauty, Brain and Culture.”

"The main objective for Miss Rwanda is girl empowerment and cultural tourism, among others,” said Ishimwe.

Meanwhile, organisers have urged parents and guardians to encourage their girls to participate in the country’s prestigious pageant.

"We encourage parents to give their girls the chance to participate in Miss Rwanda because it is a platform that empowers young women beyond beauty, and gives them a chance to promote their communities and the country beyond borders,” he explained.

Registration for the Miss Rwanda 2018 competition is still open and interested applicants are encouraged to apply online (www.missrwanda.rw).

The grand finale is slated for February 24 at Kigali Convention Centre (KCC).

In addition to winning the prestigious crown, the winner of the Miss Rwanda competition will be rewarded with a brand new car, Rwf800, 000 salary, and other amazing prizes and benefits.
