Bourse total turnover drops on low market activity

There was low activity on the local bourse and both the Rwanda Share Index and All Share Index were constant, closing at 135.38 and 133.48 points, respectively, the Rwanda Stock Exchange (RSE) daily market report indicates.

The report shows that the trading session recorded a total turnover of Rwf311,800 from 2,600 shares traded in four deals. Bank of Kigali recorded a total turnover of Rwf179,800 from 600 shares traded in three deals at Rwf300 per share, while Crystal Telecom recorded turnover of Rwf132,000 from 2,000 shares traded in one deal. The counter closed at Rwf66, unchanged from Wednesday.

The change in equity value during yesterday’s trading session was Rwf226,500, down 42.07 per cent from Rwf538,300 on Wednesday, the RSE report shows. Volumes traded were, however, higher at 2,600 compared to 1,800 shares that changed hands the previous trading session.

The other equities counters closed as follows: Bralirwa Rwf150; I&M Bank Rwf95; Equity Bank Rwf350; NMG Rwf1,200; KCB Rwf340 and Uchumi Supermarkets Rwf104.

There were outstanding offers of 4,400 shares at Rwf300 at the Bank of Kigali counter, but investors were interested in 8,400 shares at a lower share price of Rwf285. The Bralirwa counter had outstanding offers of 99,500 shares between Rwf149 and Rwf150, Crystal Telecom offers of 451,200 shares between Rwf66 and Rwf70, I&M Bank received outstanding offers of 239,400 shares at Rwf94 to Rwf100, but all the three counters did not receive any bids.

Meanwhile, the market capitalisation was at Rwf2.93 trillion, unchanged from Thursday last week.
