RE: "Agric zoning will boost food security, household incomes, experts say” (The New Times, December 22).

The agricultural ministry should do all it takes to ensure this zoning initiative is released. The population has left agricultural investment despite many who have tried and ended in total loss and totally disappointed.

They have left the peasant and a lot of investment needs to be done to show that Rwanda agriculture can be commercially viable. There is risk in investing in long term projects like coffee and macadamia farming which take time for an individual to realise proceeds and yet keep alive on a small land.

Serious consideration should be put in agriculture which majority of Rwandans depend on. We need to borrow a page from Israel and Holland and the Netherlands to move fast.
