If Jesus returned today, what would you tell him?

Christians continue to wait for the second coming of Jesus. His coming will surely comfort the hearts of many and mark the beginning of an everlasting life, so they say. But do you ever stop to wonder what you would tell Jesus if he came today? Society Magazine’s Donah Mbabazi asked different people about what they would wish to tell Jesus if he returned.

I would ask him why life is so complicated and request him to give us the grace to overcome our burdens. I would also ask him to stay and be with us for a while as we enjoy his teaching just like he did in the old days.

Well, I would ask him to make the world a better place and to restore peace like it was at the beginning of time. At the moment, when you look around many people are either helpless, homeless or sick, there are pointless wars and people of today’s world are self-centred. But if Jesus returned today, my only request to him would be to "make the world a better place for every living soul”. I would ask him to make the world a place where everyone feels at home, loved and cared for; a place where nobody decides who dies and who lives; a place where every child can have a parent figure, a home and have a normal childhood.

I don’t know if I would manage to speak at all but if I did I think I would first thank him for the blood he shed on the cross for us. I would ask him why certain things happen in our lives. Then I would ask him for grace to guide me in understanding His will for my life and give me the energy to embrace him at all times.

I don’t think I would have what to ask or tell him because the world is being betrayed while he is in heaven.

I would ask him to help me turn into a loving person just like he is to us. I would request him to fill my heart with love and make me have a kind and loving heart.

I really don’t know what I would ask because there are a lot of mysteries that I want him to explain to me. But I would be happy to have him with me. I think the first thing I would do is to hug him and thank him for the sacrifice he made for us sinners and ask him why he delayed to come back.

If I met Jesus I would have a lot of questions. I would ask him how it was growing up with a father like Joseph and a mother in Mary. I would ask him how it was living among people as a son of God.

First I would repent all my sins and soothe him of the pain he had to endure while on the cross. He died for my sins; I would thank him over and over again.

The day Jesus returns is one every Christian awaits regardless of whether we feel fulfilled on earth or not, especially because we know that this will be the end of a very long wait. As a young man, it is tempting to negotiate a deal with the Messiah that would see him give at least 50 more years for me to fulfill my earthly goals, have a family of my own, taste a good adult life and hopefully hold a baby of my own in my arms. However, when we read the Bible, it tells us that being with our Lord Saviour in heaven transcends any joy humanly possible. For that reason, therefore, I would ask him to take me with him.

If Jesus returned today the first thing I would do is to ask him to forgive my sins and to restore humanity because the world has become so evil as people have love on paper not in their life.
