FORMER Bugesera FC head coach Ali Bizimungu has joined Tanzanian Vodacom Premier League side Mwadui FC on a one-year contract.

The former Rayon Sports tactician joins Mwadui just a couple of weeks after parting ways with Azam Rwanda Premier League’s Bugesera FC following a run of poor results this season that left the Eastern Province’s club at the bottom of the league standings.

According to reports from Tanzanian media, Bizumungu was offered a three-year contract by Mwadui FC but he chose to sign for one season, until the end of the 2017/2018 campaign, after which he could sign an extension depending on results on the pitch.

After 11 match rounds in Vodacom Tanzania Premier League, Mwadui FC are in the 14th place with 9 points, one ahead of the 15th-placed Njombe Mji and seven points ahead of 16th-placed Stand United.

Bizimungu, who has coached several football clubs in Rwanda, including league giants Rayon Sports, Kiyovu Sports and Mukura Victory Sports, is among a few Rwandan coaches with CAF License A, which allows him to coach anywhere on the continent.

In Tanzania, he joins former Rayon Sports player and head coach Djuma Masudi, who was hired by giants of Simba SC as assistant coach in October.

Bizimungu will make his league debut as Mwadui FC head coach on Sunday, December 24, against strugglers Njombe Mji
