Hosts Kenya will face Zanzibar in the 2017 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup final on Sunday at Moi Sports Complex in Kisumu, while holders Uganda will battle it out with Burundi in the third place play-off.

Zanzibar cruised into the final after registering a 2-1 win in the second semi-final over defending champions Uganda on Friday. Kenya had earlier piped Burundi 1-0 in the first semi on Thursday.

Zanzibar took the lead against Uganda Cranes in the 22nd minute through Abdulaziz Makame Hassan before Derrick Nsibambi equalized six minutes later. However, Zanzibar restored their advantage from the spot through Mohammed Issa Juma in the 57th minute.

Uganda was reduced to 10 men when substitute Joseph Nsubuga was shown marching orders for pulling down an opponent in the forbidden area. Juma Mohammed Issa scored the resultant penalty.

The final match will be a second meeting between Kenya and Zanzibar after both sides played out to a goalless draw in Group A.
