Joseph Mushyoma, the CEO of East African Promoters who organises East African Party every January 1, said all is set to make people happy, assuring everyone who will attend the show to enjoy from the beginning to the end.
"We are ready for the show, everyone is invited to end the year in style. The East African party brings together Rwandans to start the new year together,” Mushyoma told The New Times.
His remarks came hours after Parfait Busabizwa, the City’s Vice-Mayor in charge of Economic Development, spoke to journalists at a news conference on the preparations of the upcoming festive season.
Busabizwa called on different stakeholders, mainly hotel managers and event organisers, to ensure excellent service delivery.
"People are coming for vacation with friends and families, and they will need where to spend their money. It is all in the hands of event managers, hoteliers and other hospitality businesses to help people enjoy in a clean city,” he said.
Ken Kinyua, the Director of Sales at Kigali Convention Centre, which will host many entertainment events during this festive season, assured those planning to seek the facility’s services that there will be no regrets.
"We are targeting people from the East African region and beyond,’’ he told The New Times.
Busabizwa said the city council has met stakeholders, especially events managers and business people, on how best they can prepare different places of entertainment so people can get where to spend their time and enjoy, by linking them with different sponsors to make the events succeed.
Busabizwa said the city council will be working closely with different security departments to ensure security not only in the city but across the country.
"As usual, we assure people of security. The city will continue to work with security organs to make sure every one is safe,” he said.
Meanwhile, the car free day will now be held twice a month instead of once, the vice mayor announced.
The car free days will now be on every first and third Sundays of the month.
Busabizwa said, "Many people are participating in the monthly physical exercise and even get free medical services. So, we decided to organise it twice a month as the city wants healthy residents.”
