UAP Old Mutual Group has scooped Top Employer accolades across all its operations in the annual Top Employers Institute awards.

Top Employers is a global certification company recognising excellence in the conditions that employers create for their people.

According to a statement from the firm, the awards recognise its people management practices, which include a staff wellness programme, across its subsidiaries in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and South Sudan. This year, 200 organisations from 33 African countries participated in the awards.

"We are delighted to be the number one employer in East Africa. This proves that our most valuable resource - the staff - have the right tools and a conducive work environment that enhances productivity,” said the group head of human resources, Winnie Pertet.

This is the seventh consecutive year that Old Mutual has been certified by Top Employers Institute in all the 12 African countries where it operates.

"To enable our employees to perform at their best, we proactively launched our signature staff wellness programme. This is built on the foundations of financial, physical, emotional and psychological wellbeing. Purposeful living is another core tenet of the programme,” explained Pertet.

Group CEO Peter Mwangi said the awards come at a time when Old Mutual Group is embarking on an "exciting journey to prepare for our independent future next year”.
