Volleyball national league reigning champions Gisagara VC have completed the signing of Rwanda international Nelson Murangwa on a one-year contract.

The 24-year-old was supposed to join Tricolorul LMV Ploiesti in July on a one-year contract, but did not travel after being denied a Romanian visa, meaning he missed the start of the new season, which began in September.

Gisagara VC head coach Fidele Nyirimana confirmed to Times Sport on Thursday that Murangwa has joined the Gisagara district-based club until end of the 2018 season that is scheduled to start on January 13.

"Murangwa has joined us on a one-year contract, he will start training with his teammates next week – he is a good player and we hope that he will improve our team in the next season,” said Nyirimana.

Gisagara have been busy during the off-season, strengthening their team with several new players, namely; Vincent Dusabimana and Eugene Tuyishimire, from University of Kibungo (UNIK); and Yves Niyonkuru and Peter Bigirimana, from Rwanda Energy Group (REG).

The former NUR and Rayon Sports VC trainer Nyirimana disclosed that, "We hope to add two more players before to the start of the new season.”

Debutants Gisagara shocked Kirehe VC to win the national league playoff finals last season and will represent Rwanda at next year’s CAVB Club Championships along with women’s league champions Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA).
