Turkish investors here to explore opportunities

Turkey's Deputy Minister of Economy, Fatih Metin, arrived in Rwanda Monday night with a large delegation of 44, composed of 25 business leaders, Members of Parliament and other government officials among others.

Metin and accompanying business leaders are expected to be hosted by Clare Akamanzi, CEO Rwanda Development Board in a business forum Tuesday morning.

According to a statement from the Rwandan embassy in Turkey, the forum will be followed by business to business discussions with Rwandan private sector players over the next two two days.

"They will also meet senior officials of the Ministry of Trade and Industry as well as other government economic agencies,” reads the statement in part.

The delegation is composed of leaders of different business associations and entrepreneurs from different sectors.

These entrepreneurs come from sectors including furniture production, textile and garment manufacturing; food processing; leather goods production, construction and hospitality industry.

They are also expected to meet delegation, which is expected to pay a courtesy call on  Prime Minister, will also visit the Bugesera Industrial Park, the Kigali Special Economic zone and tour two local factories, namely Papyrus & Azania Mikoani in the Special Economic Zone.

Four members of the delegation are parliamentarians.

Led by Sr Alim Tunc, the four legislators are members of the Rwanda-Turkey Parliamentary Friendship Group and are scheduled to meet the Speaker of parliament and the senate president, according to the release.

According to the Rwandan Ambassador to Turkey, Williams Nkurunziza, the visiting delegation demonstrates the keen interest of Turkish entrepreneurs and leadership for greater engagement between the two economies.
