Defending champions Patriots take on Rwanda Energy Group (REG) in the semi-finals of the ongoing basketball pre-season tournament on Saturday at Amahoro Indoor Stadium, while APR face IPRC-Kigali in the first of the two semis.

APR defeated Patriots 76-69 to top Group A on Wednesday and avoided a semi-final clash with pre-tournament favourites, REG.

REG topped Group B with maximum points after winning all their three games in the group stage, while Patriots finished second in Group A, behind APR.

According to REG head coach Cyrille Kalima, their objective is to win the first trophy before the new season starts.

"Every team has prepared well and has set almost the same objectives. In light of this, the players have to work hard in the semi-final if we are to achieve our goals,” Kalima said.
