RE: "Rwanda’s open border policy is such a blessing for tourism” (The New Times, November 19).

It is indeed a blessing, and not just for tourism but a whole host of other sectors that depend on facilitated people-to-people interaction.

As I have already noted in this paper, African integration will become a reality only when Africans can visit each other easily, get to familiarise themselves with people in other countries across our geographically very large and culturally and economically diverse populations, and the wide range of tradeable products each of our countries has to offer.

Rwanda’s extension of its open-door policy to all the people of our world tells our fellow planetary compatriots: Rwanda is welcoming and open for business. Come and see for yourself whenever you want.

As a Rwandan, I am proud of my country’s xenophiliac outlook!
