Police hunt Burna Boy over attack on colleague

Police in Lagos are on a manhunt for popular musician, Damini Ogiulu alias Burna Boy for his alleged involvement in the attack on David Abiye alias 2Kay. Abiye was attacked by four armed men inside his room 847, at Eko Hotels, Victoria Island on October 22. During the attack, the suspect made away with 2Kay’s property worth over N13 million.

Police in Lagos are on a manhunt for popular musician, Damini Ogiulu alias Burna Boy for his alleged involvement in the attack on David Abiye alias 2Kay.

Abiye was attacked by four armed men inside his room 847, at Eko Hotels, Victoria Island on October 22. During the attack, the suspect made away with 2Kay’s property worth over N13 million.

Lagos State Commissioner Imohimi Edgal said investigations conducted and confessions from some of the suspects arrested showed that Burna Boy contracted them to teach 2Kay a lesson.

The Lagos Police boss said the singer, was beaten and tied up by the armed men, who allegedly made away with the victim’s Audemais Piquet (AP), automatic gold wristwatch worth $25,000, gold jewelries valued N1.5million, mobile phones, Adidas shoe, cash and perfumes to the thieves who posed as hotel workers.

Edgal, said during investigation a lady identified as Mutajero Nimota, girlfriend to one of the assailants, was arrested. He said that her confessions led to the arrest of Balogun Ademola, 23, Obinna Igwe, 20 and Omotore Tunmise, 27.

He said: "The gang confessed that one Damini Ogiulu a.k.a Burna Boy, an artiste, through his road manager, Joel Kantiock, contacted and paid them to rob the said Abiye David Jumbo a.k.a 2Kay according to them to teach the victim a lesson.
