NORTHERN PROVINCE

Musanze women at the weekend, for the second time since November, blasted France over the continued detention of the Rwanda government Director of State Protocol, Rose Kabuye.

The women, of all age groups had gathered at the district stadium in preparation to join their fellow women who have been camping at the Germany embassy in Kigali, ever since Kabuye was arrested.

Estimated to be in hundreds, the protestors took to the streets before travelling to Kigali, to denounce what they called the continued pride of the French government- who are still haunting Rwanda after they helped the bloody regime to carry out Genocide in 1994.

During the Sunday protest, the demonstrators labelled France filthy.

"We are tired of the filthy French, they have proved to us that they are an enemy to our peace and progress, and they have showed disrespect to African leadership and abused justice,” the demonstrators shouted.

Like the previous protest, the protestors chanted anti-European slogans and carried posters laden with anti France slogans. They  called for the arrest of Genocide fugitives hiding in France.

France, they shouted, should offer solutions to the world’s problems instead of being a problem.

"Kabuye’s arrest is a cover up, by the French Government for the their complicity in the Rwanda genocide, it’s far from bringing justice, it’s a show of mighty at the same time a cover of guilty,’’ Betty Uwamariya, the chairperson of the Musanze Women Council said.

Kabuye was arrested on November 9 in the German City of Frankfurt while on official state duty. She is still awaiting trial in France after being granted bail.
