RwandAir gets new board chair

Cabinet on Wednesday evening appointed Godfrey Kabera as the new board chairman of national carrier RwandAir.

Cabinet on Wednesday evening appointed Godfrey Kabera as the new board chairman of national carrier RwandAir. Kabeera who is also the Director General of National Planning and Research at the Ministry of Finance succeeds Girma Wake former Ethiopian Airlines Chief Executive who previously held the position. Kabera will be deputized by Patricia Uwase. Among the tasks that await Kabera as the new board chairman and his deputy is steering the airline as it continues to expand beyond its 24 destinations and grow its fleet size. His appointment also comes at a time when the airline is working to set up a joint venture with Benin to increase coverage of the African market. Other appointments by Cabinet include Herbert Ruzibiza as the new Chief Executive of Rwanda’s Green Fund, FONERWA. This is the first time the agency has a CEO as it was previously led by a national coordinator. Ruzibiza previously was the head of services development at the Rwanda Development Board. Rwanda Development Board received a new board chairperson Itzhak Fisher, an Israeli national.
