BRYAN KIMENYI spends a day with Nicholas mucyo, Kigali’s hottest music producer and says what music means to him

Nicholas mucyo is one of Kigali’s hottest music producers. Any musician he has worked with will live to testify this, due to the success their songs receive.

With all this success, he is still the same down to earth lad. "I am actually a quiet individual, social and outgoing,” he begins in an interview this week.

"Honesty and having a straight forward approach in life is probably what makes my personality in general tick,” he adds.

"Having grown up serving the almighty God meant being exposed to music at a tender age while in church,” he explains.

As a church music leader, he continues the church supported me and this helped me improve my studies in music and its production. He believes his local church laid the foundation of his career.

With a good Christian background, every man is bound to be successful. But it’s not only Christianity as the sole aspect behind his success. His family has always been behind him, supportive and loving. He is the fourth child in the family of five.

He says: "I grew up in home that groomed me well since I was young. They taught us to fear the Lord, respect our elders; not only my parents! Love is the other factor that my family installed in me.”

Nicholas does not only produce music but he is also a performing musician and a student at the Central African University. Now you may wonder how he manages to do his work.

He says it’s all about loving what you do and staying committed. Personally, I am very keen on time management which helps me do the right task certainly at the right moment he explains.

The likes of Tom Close, Miss Channel, Ezra, Gaby, Patrick Nyamitali, Mani Martin and Jamal of the "Obawuwo” fame have kept the twenty two year working even harder.

Music producers of all kinds have specific musicians they love to work with. He started out his career producing mostly church music.

In the music world, he adores the works of American Producer Timberland and his best musician is gospel singer Michael W. Smith.
