Mutoni signs for Gimme Waasland Belgium

Rwanda national volleyball team right-attacker, Adolphe Mutoni has signed for Belgium second division side Gimme Waasland in a one-year deal, Saturday Sport reports.

Rwanda national volleyball team right-attacker, Adolphe Mutoni has signed for Belgium second division side Gimme Waasland in a one-year deal, Saturday Sport reports.

"I am happy that I have got the released letter from APR, and I’m looking forward to join my new team. I will work hard to be at high level and make sure that get a contract extension,” Mutoni said.

He added, "Right now, I am a Gimme Waasland player, am happy to join such a big club. Hopefully, I will improve and take my career to a whole new level. I want to repay the club management for putting a lot of faith in me, and the many fans that turned up to receive me.”

Mutoni started his senior playing career with then league side Amasata Volleyball Club in 2006 and in 2012 he was voted the national league’s best player.

In 2007, the right-attacker joined National University of Rwanda VC where he played for six year before joining APR for the 2012/13 season. He had briefs spells with University of Kibungo (formerly INATEK) in 2013/14 and Rayon Sports (2014/15).

Last season, he attracted the interest of Belgian club VDK Gent but Rayon Sports refuse to give him a release letter.
