The national volleyball team beat Botswana to reach the quarter-finals of the 2017 Men's African Nations Championships on Monday at Cairo Stadium Complex in Egypt.

Rwanda beat Botswana 3-0 25-19; 25-18 and 25-17 in the game that took one hour and 47 minutes.

It was the second win for Paul Bitok's team after thrashing Chad 3-0 on Sunday. The two wins mean that Rwanda has reached the quarter-finals of the competition, but will need a win against Algeria on Tuesday to book the first position in Group D. Algeria also qualified after winning against Botswana 3-0 on Sunday and Monday's win over Chad 3-0 (25-15,25-13 and 25-19).

In other matches, Tunisia won the most difficult game against solid side Libya on Sunday while organisers and defending champions Egypt edged Niger 3-0 (25-10, 25-6, 25-12) in a Pool A game. In Pool B, Ghana beat Kenya 3-0 (25-16, 26-24, 25-15).

However, the Pool C match between Cameroon and Nigeria was postponed because of the late arrival of Nigerian team due to flight delays.

Pool D saw favourites Algeria overwhelm Botswana 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-17).
