It was a moment to remember as US-based Rwandan singer Medard Jobert Ngabo mesmerised show goers at his last performance in the Airtel Muzika promotion tour in the western province town of Rubavu.

The 27- year-old, who last performed in the Western Province town several years ago, received a warm reception from his seemingly impatient fans as he took to the stage. Meddy, who could not hide his excitement, put up a befitting performance which engaged fans from start to finish.

The show kicked off at 2:30pm with MCs Buryohe and Brian hyping up the big crowd at Nengo playfield while young and upcoming artistes were given an opportunity to do a freestyle before the crowd to showcase their talent.

Rapper Khalfan was the first to perform. The promising rapper performed songs like Mfashe Volant, Too Much and Nabibonye ugiye, among others.

When he was done, his more seasoned compatriot Riderman, once again proved why he remains the best rapper in a thrilling performance, which got Rubavu residents elated.

Rapper Riderman also engaged with his fans and delivered a great performance.

He did not disappoint revellers, who sang along to most of the tracks he was performing like Umwana w’imuhanda, Get out of my soul, Holo and Nkwite nde to mention but a few, before paving way for Meddy.

The crowd got hysterical when Meddy stepped on the stage at around 5:30pm.

Some displayed placards in support of the Ntawamusimbura singer while others hoisted his pictures to express their love and admiration.

There was drama when a 13-year-old girl, only identified as Sonia hysterically cried and screamed until she was allowed to get on stage and hug her favourite singer. She also got an opportunity to sing Inkoramutima with Meddy.

Meddy was able to put his guitar skills and singing voice on full display.

She however didn’t want to leave the stage, prompting security to intervene and lead her off as she begged Meddy to always remember her and stay in touch.

The singer promised to stay in touch and support the young admirer in ways he can. Security had to stop more youngsters from attempting to reach the stage to join the star.

For an hour, Meddy performed his songs, old and new, including Inkoramutima, Igipimo, Ndi Uwi Kigali, Sibyo, Slowly, Amayobera and closed the performance with Ntawamusimbura before he was joined by Riderman in Airtel’s song Wiceceka.

After the performance, which ended at 6.30pm, Meddy announced that this was his last performance before adding; "Honestly, I didn’t want leave the stage given the love Rubavu people showed me. I love all Rwandans, all my fans. Such turn up is proof that Rwandan music is advancing to another level.”
