The City of Kigali authority is embarking on its monthly concerts, particularly at the end of the month in order to experience a vibrant city and raise creative economies.
The much-anticipated move was shared on February 12, by City Mayor Samuel Dusengiyumva during a presser discussing the upcoming ‘Kigali Triennial’ festival that aims to celebrate African arts and culture.
"If a person came for a meeting, or any other activity, it is crucial to get to rest, relax, but mostly experience Rwandan culture ranging from different dancing styles to Rwandan cuisine. People should experience local dishes,” he said.
Expanding beyond music, the Mayor also said, the city plans to include sports like football and volleyball, catering to diverse interests. The goal is to establish permanent, well-known venues for participation by both residents and visitors.
According to him, this expansion aims to create job opportunities for the youth and support investors.
Drawing from previous vibrant events that took place at Imbuga City Walk particularly, the Kigali Youth festival exhibition presented creativity and innovation, registering both enjoyment and financial gain for the participants, in particular young talents.
He said: "The plan is to expand its significance and bring in other new activities in order to utilize those various entertainment facilities and provide platforms for talented individuals, creating connections between creators and audiences."

Among the venues mentioned are Imbuga City walk, Kigali Conference and Exhibition Center (KCEV), Nyamirambo Tapis Verte formerly ‘Tapis Rouge’ and many others both expected to be hosting shows each month .
Besides BK Arena hosting about 10, 000 people, Golf Club upgraded its golf course from 9 hole to an 18 course, Gahanga Cricket Stadium, Amahoro indoor stadium and Paralympic facilities and Amahoro Stadium which is under renovation from hosting 25,000 to 45,000 people and other city’s venues are showing exciting days ahead.
