Calisto Warambo Ogaye has been appointed the new chief executive officer UAP Insurance Rwanda, a subsidiary of UAP Holdings, a pan-African financial services group. Ogaye (pictured right) replaces Pauline Wanjoki, who had been the firm’s general manager since 2013, but left the company last year. With over 20 years’ experience in reinsurance management and underwriting (life and non-life), Ogaye brings a wide body of expertise and knowledge into the sector, the firm said in a statement.

The graduate of economics and business studies from Kenyatta University, Ogaye has previously worked as the managing director of Continental Reinsurance and Phoenix of East Africa Assurance Company. The new CEO pledged more innovation and strategic products that "could help increase insurance uptake in the country”. "It is a great pleasure to join UAP Holdings…I am ready to work with other sector players to help increase insurance penetration in the country,” he said, adding that he will promote professionalism, efficiency and integrity, among others.
