Every country has its own fugitives

Editor, RE: “Rwanda moving to decent housing for all” (The New Times, October 3). Thank you very much, Mr Rwagatare. It is very absurd indeed. What credibility do these so-called human rights advocates give to claims of one man, a fugitive for that matter, trotting the globe?

Editor,

RE: "Rwanda moving to decent housing for all” (The New Times, October 3). Thank you very much, Mr Rwagatare. It is very absurd indeed. What credibility do these so-called human rights advocates give to claims of one man, a fugitive for that matter, trotting the globe?

If the recent happenings in Rwanda were not democratic, then what is democracy? What constituency of Rwandans do they think he represents? If they really need to know the truth about the situation in the country in good faith, why can’t they travel to Rwanda and interview the Rwandans on the ground, without bias?

Every place has, in some ways, fugitives. If their own were to be asked what they think about the governments they fled at their free will, stuff similar to David Himbara’s will most likely be expected.
