Injured Rwandan internationals Abdoul Rwatubyaye (knee) and Dominique Savio Nshuti (shoulder) will travel to Morocco next month to undergo advanced medical surgery.

Rwatubyaye, 21 and Nshuti, 20, will undergo surgery as part of the partnership signed between FERWAFA and Morocco Royal Football Federation (RFMF) to treat Rwandan players with severe injuries in the North African country.

Rayon Sports defender Rwatubyaye damaged his knee ligament during the league game last season while AS Kigali new signing Nshuti’s playing career is under threat due to a recurrent dislocation of the shoulder, which he suffered while still with Rayon Sports.

"For Savio, it’s a recurrent dislocation of the shoulder and he will need surgery to fix the problem for good and I believe he will be fine after surgery and the same applies to Rwatubyaye with his troublesome knee,” the national team doctor, Patrick Rutamu told Times Sport.

Other players, who are expected to travel to Morocco for treatment include AS Kigali Women FC players, Console Imanishimwe and Sandrine Niyigena (both knee ligaments).

 Previously players like Emmanuel ‘Crespo’ Sebanani, Pacifique Uwimana, Djamal Mwiseneza, Evode Ngabotsinze, Onesme Twizerimana, Kevin Muhire, Blaise Itangishaka and Andrew Buteera have all received advanced medical treatment in Morocco and have since recovered and now play regular football with their respective clubs.

FERWAFA and RFMF have an existing partnership since 2015 aimed at boosting technical development specifically in areas of medical assistance, infrastructure and training camps.
