Patriots 84-67 Tigers

American point guard William Perry had an exceptional debut in Patriots' colors as his game high 26 points powered the team to an 84-67 victory over the Tigers on Sunday, February 11.

The game, held at Lycée de Kigali Gymnasium, marked the first league meeting between the two teams this season.

The pair’s battle was relatively balanced in the first half with the Patriots going into the break with a narrow 41-37 lead.

The Tigers posed a serious threat against the Patriots in the second half as they pushed for a comeback but Patriots maintained their momentum and rather scored more points to avoid the scare.

Coach Henry Mwinuka’s men claimed the third quarter 21-12 and carried on to get the fourth and final quarter 22-18 to take home the victory in a convincing style.

A skilled Perry was the standout performer of the matchup thanks to his skills and hard work. He let 26 points go into the basket while forward Steven Hagumintwari also made a noteworthy impact, with his 19 points, to the team's result.

Additionally, players such as Dieudonné Ndizeye, Bruno Nyamwasa and Frank Kamndoh were outstanding both in attack and defence as their team secured the win.

After the game, Mwinuka could only thank his men for the commendable job done against the Tigers.

"This is a significant step forward; winning against the Tigers is always a massive boost for us," Mwinuka told Times Sport.
