Fuel prices to drop slightly -RURA
Saturday, February 10, 2024

You will be buying a litre of petrol at a maximum of Rwf1,637, and a litre of diesel at Rwf1,632 effective February 12, according to new fuel prices issued by the Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA) on February 10.

The new prices are applicable for a two-month period, and represent a slight decrease compared to the current tariff that was set on December 5, 2023.

They imply a reduction of Rwf2 on a litre of gasoline (petrol) compared to the Rwf1,639 it costs currently, and Rwf3 less on a litre of diesel compared to the existing Rwf1,635.

These revisions are primarily based on price changes in petroleum products registered at the international market, RURA indicated in a communique.

In December 2023, a relatively significant reduction – Rwf183 per litre – was registered in the maximum pump price for gasoline (premium motor spirit) as the price of a litre was set at Rwf1,639 down from Rwf1,822 announced at the start of October of the same year.

Diesel pump price recorded a drop of Rwf27 a litre, to Rwf1,635 in December from Rwf1,662 in October 2023.

Fuel prices are revised every two months to reflect realities in the global petroleum product market.
