Espoir FC sign Vipers striker Semazzi

Azam Rwanda Premier League club, Espoir FC have completed the signing of striker John Semazzi from Ugandan league side Vipers on a free transfer.

According to Espoir Secretary General, Rene Fidele Rukundo, Semazzi has signed a two-year contract until end of the 2019.

"Samazzi signed a two-year contract and he started training with his teammates on Wednesday—he is a good player and we hope that he will improve our team’s attacking options next season,” he said.

The Ugandan forward becomes Espoir’s sixth summer signing after Maurice Uzayisenga from Gicumbi FC, Emmanuel Uwimana from AS Kigali, Regis Twagizimana and Abdul Mudeyi (both from Amagaju FC) as well as Manisura Senzira from Marine FC.

Rukundo disclosed that they hope to bring in more new players before the start of the 2017/18 season, which gets underway on September 29.

The Rusizi-based side have also released some players namely; Ally Mbogo to SC Kiyovu, Sadamu Nyandwi, who joined league champions Rayon Sports, Basile Hatungimana to Mukura VS and Bodo Ndikumana (no club).

Jimmy Ndizeye’s team have played one pre-season friendly against Etoile de l’Est from Goma, which ended in a 2-2 draw and will face national league rivals Mukura on Saturday in Rusizi.

Espoir, finished in 8th place last season with 39 points, and will start their campaign for the new season against Gicumbi FC on September 30.
