Three Tigo Rwanda customers have won a total of Rwf21 million in the ongoing ‘Imvura y’Amafaranga’ promotion.

Patient Niyibizi and Faustin Nkundayesu won Rwf8 million each, while Jean Pierre Usabuwera bagged Rwf5 million, the telecom firm said in a statement yesterday.

Niyibizi and Nkundayesu join Delphine Nyirangirimana Irangaza, a primary school teacher, as the only winners of the Rwf8 million grand prize since the 90-day promotion was launched on June 28.

Participants stand a chance to win daily prizes ranging from Rwf100,000 to Rwf8 million, as well as monthly prizes of Rwf1 million to Rwf8 million, while the final day jackpot will be between Rwf5 million and Rwf20 million.

Nkundayesu, a 28-year-old Kimironko, Gasabo District resident, one of the Rwf8 million jackpot winners plans to buy a house and support poor residents.

"Presently, I am living in a rented house with my family. Therefore, my first priority is to buy a house for the family so that we don’t have to worry about rent any more. I will also give Rwf50,000 to my church and also pay Mutuelles de Sante (health insurance) for 10 vulnerable Rwandans for a year,” he said.

"I am so thankful to Tigo for the ‘Imvura y’Amafaranga’ promotion because it has forever changed my life and that of my family,” he added.

Jean Pierre Usabuwera, 34, said he will use the Rwf5 million cash prize to expand his bar business.

The father of two and resident of Kimisagara, Nyarugenge District, said: "I shall reinvest in the bar business, renovate and expand my house and use the balance to invest in other small businesses,” Usabuwera said.

"Our customers are ambitious, happy people who have big dreams for themselves and their families,” said Yaw Ankoma Agyapong, the Tigo Rwanda chief commercial officer.

"This promotion is an opportunity for us to give back to customers and empower them to achieve their dreams and aspirations. As we grow, we want our customers to grow with us.”

Cash prizes worth over Rwf65 million so far have been won by 165 lucky winners, according to the telecom firm.

How to participate

Tigo Rwanda subscribers can take part in the promotion daily by sending an SMS to 155; calling 155, or dialing *155#. Each entry costs Rwf100, with unlimited entries allowed per day.
