Upcoming Afro dancehall artiste Sintex, real name Arnold Kabera, has been doing music since 2012, but with little visibility.

However, since last year, his profile has been rising steadily, thanks to a handful of singles and collabos like Ndabyimenyera, Let’s talk about love, Why, and Ndabyemenyera. He has also collaborated with a string of local musicians on different projects like Nyunyuza featuring Nganzo Like, and Ikofi, a collaboration with rapper Young Grace.

He has been working hard to put together his debut album which is already complete and due for release soon.

Away from the upcoming album, Sintex also has his eyes set on gaining wider visibility on the local music scene.

This year, he became the first musician to be signed up by ARTN Entertainment, a creative and artist management company founded by popular comedian and radio personality Arthur Nkusi.

Incidentally, Nkusi is Sintex’s elder brother and one of the people that inspired him into music.

"The thing that made me choose music as my career is because music is where I found myself comfortable. I grew up around people who were into music and the arts. My father (Kennedy Mazimpaka) was a musician and right now he’s a big director in the Rwandan film industry.

"My brother Arthur is also an artiste and arguably one of the best comedians in the country. So, perhaps art was in my blood and my vessel was music. They gave me a go ahead and that in itself was a big support for me,” Sintex explains.

As part of the deal, Sintex will stage a showcase performance at the upcoming Seka Live Comedy Show featuring Ugandan comedian Anne Kansiime on August 26. The Seka Live Comedy series is organised by ARTN Entertainment and is hosted by Nkusi.

"Apart from him being a good artiste he is my brother and I believe that charity begins at home,” said Nkusi.

"What Sintex needed is just to be branded, give him a video, make him a star so that people get to know him. I believe a good brand promotes itself. He is the first singer signed by ARTN and the second artist after myself. So it’s a brotherhood thing as of now, but with time we’ll bring more signings on board.”
