Rwanda take on Sudan in a warm-up match on Monday at Kigali Stadium as both teams prepare for their respective 2018 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) third-round qualifiers.

Amavubi will travel to Uganda on Wednesday for the first leg game, which will be played at St. Marys Kitende on August 12, while the second leg will be played a week later. The team is based at Golden Trip Hotel in Nyamata, Bugesera District.

Last week, Amavubi head coach Antoine Hey announced a provisional 22-man squad which will play against Uganda. He is expected to name the final team on Tuesday.

The Sudanese team, which arrived in Kigali on Thursday night ahead of today’s friendly match, are preparing to face Ethiopia in the final qualification round.

Rwanda are hoping to make their third appearance in Africa’s second biggest international tournament, which is reserved for only players featuring in their respective domestic leagues.

The game against Sudan will help Hey assess which players he will need to use if he’s to go past Uganda. In the last round of CHAN qualifies, Rwanda eliminated Tanzania, while Uganda knocked out South Sudan.

The third round winners will represent the Eastern and Central African Zone at next year’s finals tournament in Kenya – along alongside with the host country.

During their previous six meetings, all coming in the CECAFA Senior Challenge, Rwanda beat Sudan once and lost twice, while the other encounters ended in draws.
