FIFA Secretary General Diouf Samoura to visit Rwanda

Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) Secretary General, Fatma Samba Diouf Samoura, will be in Rwanda on a three-day official visit from August 9-11.

Samoura, the first woman to hold this position at FIFA, will be amongst the special delegates invited for the International Women Forum.

The forum for The Advancing Women in Leadership for Africa and Asia will be held in Kigali for the first time under the sponsorship of International Olympic Committee (IOC) since Rwanda is seen at the fore-front to promote the participation of women in the sports on top of registering a number of success stories.

The veteran Senegalese diplomat will be joined by hundred special guests who will be attending the forums including the United Nations Regional Director for UN Women Dr. Izeduwa Derex-Briggs.

The other invited guests expected to attend the forum is Lassana Palenfo the director of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), Lydia Nsekera a member of the International Olympic Committee, as well as Allen Beatrice the Chair of the Women and Sports Commission of the Association of the National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA).

This year’s conference is expected to provide unique opportunities for sports federations to share best practices and effective strategies for increasing the number of women in leadership roles.
