DIEUDONNE -  Disi will be the lone representative at the 4th edition of the CISM World Military Games slated for October 15-21 at Hyderabad and Mumbai, India.

The APR Athletics Club coach Innocent Rwabuhihi told Times Sport on Friday that Disi will be the only country’s representative at the World Military Games.

"Lack of enough funds has forced fail to send as many athletes for the World Games. CISM sent travel expenses for Disi and he therefore will stand as the lone representative,” Rwabuhihi said.

The 27 year old former RDF soldier is has participated in the World Athletics Championship held in Osaka, Japan and the All African Games held in Algeria this year but failed to win a single medal in both championships.

Disi was expected to participate in the Versaille marathon race yesterday in the French capital Paris as part of his preparations for next month’s World Road Running championship in Italy as well as the military games in India.

Nearly 5,000 military personnel from 89 nations will compete for the 1,076 medals that will be up for grabs at the Military World Games (MWG), the biggest multi-sport international event this year.

Being held under the aegis of the Conseil International du Sport Militaire (CISM) this will be the fourth edition of what is the biggest sporting extravaganza after the Olympics.

Both Hyderabad and Mumbai will host 13 disciplines including athletics, handball, volleyball, football, judo, boxing, wrestling, swimming and amp; diving, shooting, triathlon, parachuting, and sailing.

The CISM was founded in 1948 and India signed up in 1999 and has 128 member countries, with Rwanda inclusive. The MWG debuted in Rome in 1995 and were hosted in 1999 by Zagreb in Croatia and in 2003 by Catania in Italy. Brazil will host the 2011 edition.
