Amavubi head coach Antoine Hey has said that his side is in good position to eliminate Tanzania when the two countries meet in the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) second qualification round second leg today at Kigali Stadium in Nyamirambo.

Rwanda managed a 1-1 draw against Taifa Stars last Saturday in Mwanza and Hey believes that his team can secure the win over what he called a "more experienced team.”

Hey said on Friday: "We have trained very well. We had no injuries and the players seem to be more focused than they were going into the first leg fixture.”

"Honestly, I think we’re in a good position to finish the job that we started last weekend in Mwanza, we’re not under any pressure,” he noted.

"The match is very special for us and we have got to make a good start as we did in the first leg when we scored first but ended the game with 8 defenders before we had to defend our away goal, but I don’t think we’re going to employ similar tactics in front of our home supporters tomorrow.”

In the first leg, AS Kigali’s new signing Dominique Savio Nshuti put Rwanda ahead after 18 minutes before Himid Mao equalised for the hosts from the penalty spot in the 35th minute.

Meanwhile, Tanzania head coach Salum Mayanga is also confident that his Stars have what it takes to get the result they need in Kigali to advance to the third and final qualification round.

Mayanga lauded players for the good performance in the first leg despite failing to win, admitting that, "Allowing Amavubi to score an early away goal was a grave mistake on our part.”

"We played very well, dominated the game, had so many scoring opportunities to win the game but we could only manage a draw, which was not the result we were hoping for. Our main target is to make sure that we fix the mistakes on Saturday,” he explained.

The winners between Rwanda and Tanzania will face either Uganda or South Sudan in the third and final qualification round next month where only eventual winners will qualify to represent the East and Central Africa Zone in CHAN 2018 finals, alongside hosts Kenya.
