The Ministry of Education (MINEDUC) in partnership with development partners and stakeholders are holding a two-day workshop at La Pallisse Hotel Nyandungu on developing ICT in education in Rwanda.

The workshop which commenced yesterday will discuss a draft ‘ICT in education policy’ and get feedback from the stakeholders to refine the document which was put out in November this year.

According to the acting Permanent Secretary in MINEDUC, Claver Yisa, the ministry, has close partnerships with various organisations working in the ICT domain , including the Global Education Alliance (GEA), which chose Rwanda as its first pilot project. It officially launched the collaboration effort in the Spring of 2008.

"In August of 2008, a Strategic Implementation Framework was developed to create a shared vision and understanding of how to best support the efforts of MINEDUC in the area of ICT,” explained Ana Karinna Sepulveda, the GEA Project Manager during an interview.

In developing the draft, much emphasis was put in policies including the education plan, the EDPRS and Vision 2020.
