Wednesday, January 31, 2024

As Rwanda observes the 30th National Heroes Day on Thursday, February 1, SONARWA General Insurance joins the rest of the country to pay tribute to the people whose sacrifices have shaped the country's resilience.

SONARWA General Insurance, which was established in 1975, acknowledges the profound sacrifices made by heroes who have contributed to Rwanda's dignity.

Rees Kinyangi Lulu, the acting CEO of SONARWA General Insurance, summarises the significance of this day to the company: "As we mark the 30th National Heroes Day, let us reflect on the enduring spirit and transformation of our nation, a journey that SONARWA General Insurance has witnessed.

In the footsteps of our heroes, we remain dedicated to safeguarding and serving our community. Together, let us honour the sacrifices of the past as we forge a future defined by unity, progress, and peace.”

Rwanda's heroes epitomize the highest ideals of patriotism and selflessness, laying a foundation of dignity and hope for generations to come. As Rwanda celebrates the Heroes’ Day, we are reminded of the responsibility to emulate their courage and resilience in our daily lives.

The celebrated heroes of Rwanda are in three categories: Imanzi, Imena, and Ingenzi. Imanzi features individuals who achieved remarkable deeds at the expense of their own lives.

These are Late Maj Gen Fred Gisa Rwigema, the first commander of the liberation struggle, and the Unknown Soldier, who symbolises those who perished during the liberation struggle.

Imena includes notable figures such as King Mutara III Rudahigwa, former Prime Minister Agathe Uwiringiyimana, Felicite Niyitegeka, Michel Rwagasana, and the Nyange Students.

Currently, no individuals have been featured in the Ingenzi category.

In recognition of National Heroes Day, SONARWA General Insurance reaffirms its commitment to Rwanda's prosperity, serving as a beacon of stability and support for its citizens and beyond.
