Amagaju FC head coach Pablo Nduwimana has expressed his delight after guiding the Southern Province-based league side to the Peace Cup semi-finals for the first time.

Amagaju reached the last four after eliminating AS Kigali on the away goals rule following 3-3 aggregate draw. The first leg ended 1-1 and the second leg 2-2 on Thursday afternoon at Kigali Stadium.

"We showed some good spirit in the first half and scored two goals and that’s what I wanted, but in second half we failed to maximise our chances. But I think overall, we were the better side and we’re delighted to be in the semi-finals,” Nduwimana said.

The Burundian added that, "We had studied their game well and produced a good display and credit to my players for delivering a great performance. I am happy for their work and the character they showed against very tough opponents.”

Their reward for reaching the last four is a clash on Monday with record eight-time winners, APR FC, who overcame Bugesera FC 5-1 on aggregate.

The other semi-final tie will be between Espoir FC and holders, Rayon Sports on Sunday. The second leg matches will be played three days later.

The final is set for July 4 at Amahoro National Stadium. The winners will represent Rwanda in the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup.
