Isonga and Miroplast FC have edged closer to earning promotion to the topflight division for the 2017/18 season following their positive results in the playoffs semi-final first leg matches on Sunday.

Former topflight side Isonga FC clinched a 1-0 away win against another former league side and 2013 Peace Cup finalists AS Muhanga at FERWAFA ground in Remera, courtesy of a brilliant strike from Bogarde Cyitegetse in the second half.

It was AS Muhanga’s first defeat of the season and Isonga will need to keep a clean sheet in the second leg on Saturday to seal their comeback to the topflight league.

Another former league side Rwamagana City FC drew 2-2 with Miroplast FC at Rwamagana Police ground.

Miroplast FC’s two away goals going into the second leg put them in pole position to reach the final. The two finalists will be promoted to the national league.
