Pastor Hesron Byilingiro, President of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, acknowledged Pastor Mpyisi's integrity and longstanding dedication to the church.

"We will never forget that he was an honest and truthful man, never scared to say things the way they are. He was a man of his word, advisor to all aged people. He is the longest-serving pastor in our church, and he departed still a believer," Pastor Byilingiro said.

Born in 1922, Pastor Mpyisi had an illustrious career within the Seventh-Day Adventist community. He served as a pastor for several decades, ministering in various countries across the region, including Congo, Tanzania, Burundi, Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda.

During the colonial era, Pastor Mpyisi attended several primary schools, such as Rwamata Adventist School and Gitwe Missionary School. He was later sent to Solusi Adventists University in Zimbabwe, which was at the time called South Rhodesia where he pursued a bachelor's degree in Theology.

Byilingiro also talked about how, in his last days, "Pastor Mpyisi exemplified his compassion and love for others by using his pension money to buy bibles for believers who couldn't afford them."

"I'm mostly happy that he departed after having been able to write his memoir, which I think we shall refer to long after him, having led an exemplary life," Pastor Byilingiro continued. Beyond his dedicated service to the church, Pastor Mpyisi was also one of the founding members of Inteko Izirikana, an association of retired elderly people.

This organization focuses on educating Rwanda's youth about their cultural values and norms, ensuring that the rich heritage of the country is passed on to future generations.

The establishment of this association in 2001 speaks to Pastor Mpyisi's commitment to his community and his desire to leave a lasting impact, Byilingiro commented.

He added, "As Pastor Mpyisi joins the heavenly host, the Adventist Church, along with countless individuals influenced by his teachings and guidance, mourns the loss of a remarkable man. His legacy of honesty, integrity, and unwavering faith continues to inspire and uplift those who knew him."
