Gasogi United proprietor Charles Kakooza Nkuriza, best known as KNC, has dropped a bombshell that he has decided to 'disband the club with immediate effect'.

KNC announced the decision to the media after his side’s 1-0 league loss to AS Kigali at Kigali Pelé Stadium on Saturday, January 27, in a match that the businessman ironically named the referee ‘man of the match’ after accusing him of unfair refereeing against his club.
"You could be surprised by what I am going to tell you but I am disbanding Gasogi United with immediate effect. We are not investing in Rwandan football anymore,” KNC told journalists in a post-match interview.
KNC said he was disappointed by a series of ‘unfair refereeing calls’ that match officials made against his team during the AS Kigali loss but he maintained that the decision was not made solely based on just one game.
"Unfortunately, only four minutes were added to the game, while the opposing team wasted much time on the pitch. I can confidently say that the referee played as if he was part of their team,” he said.
"He was biased against us and failed to acknowledge a penalty against Christian Balako Panzi."
He said he had already informed the coaches and players about his decision and he is working on "settling our debts and allow players who wish to leave to do so."

It is not the first time that KNC decided to withdraw his team from competitions citing corrupt refereeing.
He withdrew the team from the league in January 2022 but he quickly made a U-turn and brough it back into football competitions. However, he said he won’t regret the decision this time round.
KNC believes he gave his all to bring and improve competition in the game. However, he feels that he has lost courage ever since he was charged for ‘speaking the truth’ about events happening in Rwandan football.
"We can&039;t play without fair play because we invest our time and money. We're fed up with corruption in the game [...]," he said.
With the decision, KNC said that the team won't continue in the Peace Cup either, where they were expected to play APR FC in the quarterfinals.
