The Morocco national football team has confirmed their participation in the second edition of the Genocide memorial tournament, which is scheduled for June 1-4 in Kigali.

"Morocco has confirmed their participation, but we expect more activities to confirm before the tournament starts,” an official from the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA), said.

According to the official, Kenya has also expressed interest to be part of the tourney, but they are yet to make it official.

Morocco and Rwanda have a partnership agreement as part of broader efforts to develop the youth and boost technical development specifically in areas of medical assistance, and infrastructure, among others.

The tournament is organised in memory of the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, and Amavubi will also use it as part of preparations for the first 2019 AFCON qualifier against Central African Republic that will be played on June 11 in Bangue.

Amavubi will start official training camp on Monday. The invited countries include; Guinea Conakry, Equatorial Guinea, Togo, Congo Brazzaville, Libya, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Gabon, Liberia, Ghana, Kenya, Morocco and Nigeria.

The inaugural tournament last year had four teams including hosts Rwanda, Kenya, South Sudan and Tanzania, who played against each other in a round-robin.
