Dear Editor,

The plan of suspending 2009 private students intake is a strong step towards revising the quality of education that the National University of Rwanda (NUR) offers to students.

It is such a brilliant idea because it will reduce the teacher-student ratio. For education to have a positive impact it is very vital that students consult their lecturers often.

This has however not been possible due to the overwhelming number of students compared to the few lecturers. It is however a brave step considering the fact that private students contribute highly to the university’s coffers.

Let us start by enhancing the university’s infrastructure and faculty before increasing the intake of students.
