Presidents Paul Kagame and Mamadi Doumbouya of Guinea-Conakry, who is on three-day visit in Rwanda, held a tête-à-tête on Friday, January 26.

The meeting was followed by bilateral talks with their respective delegations.

Doumbouya, who arrived in Kigali on Thursday, said his visit would be marked by the strengthening of ties of friendship and fraternity between two countries, and the continuation of the vital sectors of cooperation identified in April 2023 during Kagame's visit to Conakry.

Doumbouya, a military general who leads a transitional government of the west African country, said with President Kagame they would "address the positioning of a sovereign, self-determined and influential Africa on the international scene.”

Doumbouya’s office earlier said his and Kagame’s diplomatic steps are aimed at promoting investments, peace, stability and prosperity in the two countries.

President Paul Kagame’s visit to Conakry in April 2023 resulted in the signing of an agreement on the creation of a joint cooperation committee between Rwanda and Guinea, covering areas of agriculture, ICT, education, mining, and security.
