The Peace Torch, a symbol of unity and harmony, will be lit on Saturday to mark the start of the 13th edition of the Kigali International Peace Marathon, scheduled for Sunday.

According to the National Olympic and Sports Committee (RNOSC), the ceremony will also see the Minister for Sports and Culture, Julienne Uwacu, lay a wreath at the Nyanza Genocide memorial in Kicukioro before lighting the flame that will move 8.2 km.

Thereafter, according to organisers, the Peace Torch will be relayed from the Integrated Polytechnic Regional Centre-Kigali (IPRC-Kigali) through to Amahoro National Stadium in Remera where it will await the flagging off of this year’s edition of the Kigali International Peace marathon the next day.

The event will also see school children participate in different games with prizes up for grabs.
