R&B singer Edouce Softman, on January 22, released an extended play ‘Genesis’ that he has been longing to bless his fans with.

The five-track EP was is now streaming on all music platforms and as its title suggests, it is just the beginning for the singer who is determined to make more.

Edouce’s EP does not just talk about love, but mostly about life. The five tracks on the EP are ‘Intro’, ‘Umuigishe’, ‘Balance’, ‘Kind of Love’, ‘Single Mama’ and ‘Ubu’.

In the 45-second opening sound of the EP, titled ‘Intro’, Edouce sets the stage with a powerful message to soft people about the growing profitability of music and the changing attitudes of people towards it.

The first track "Unyigishe” and the only gospel song on the EP, the singer narrates a new religious journey by asking God to teach him how to count his days. The slow song with different vocals in the background beautifully displays a vulnerable person asking for strength and blessings.

Edouce was inspired to compose this gospel song after listening to the teachings of Pastor Antoine Rutayisire during the funeral of the late singer Yvan Buravan.

His wish was to do a gospel song and on that day, he was touched by the wise words from the pastor.

The second song ‘Single Mama’ is a track dedicated to all single mothers who have struggled but conquered whatever the world throws at them. The singer revealed that the song was dedicated especially to his mother and all other mothers who tried their best to defend themselves and take care of their families without husbands.

It expresses how despite all the life they have lived after losing his father, she has been a strong force and continued to help the family. This vibrant tune is a dedication to the most powerful and valiant single mothers.

‘Kind of Love’ is love track on the EP that talks about a broken relationship. He sings about how hard the relationship is and asks his significant other not to break his heart. In the chorus, he talks about how he doesn’t want to lose the girl and then goes on to ask what kind of love it is that they have.

The next song "Balance” is about the daily struggles in society, especially among the youth, where he noticed that these days the youth are involved in extreme drugs. As the song title suggests, the singer is urging young people to live a balanced life by curbing alcoholism, work hard and be honest in what they do.

"Ubu” is another sad song but this time talks about a past love. It hurts the singer, how he still remembers everything like it was just yesterday.

He then goes on to ask if she misses him like he does and how they used to dance together. This is a perfect song to those who miss their exes never left their hearts.
