Rwanda’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Valentine Rugwabiza, and the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, Alya Ahmed S. Al-Thani, yesterday, signed a deal establishing diplomatic relations between Rwanda and Qatar.

This reaffirms the growing friendship between the two countries and their wish to formalise and strengthen their bilateral cooperation, according to a statement.

"The establishment of diplomatic relations between Rwanda and Qatar expresses the desire of the two countries to upgrade their relationship and widen the areas of cooperation for the mutual benefit of the People of Rwanda and Qatar,” it said.
