Apply international law consistently

And what about the use of depleted uranium munitions or white phosphorous bombs? But, more importantly, why is the world silent about Western wars of aggression that violate the basic tenets of the UN Charter and international law that ban attacks against other UN member states except in clear cases of self-defence where a member state can demonstrate its action was in response to another’s attack?

Editor,

RE: "The world must make clear that use of chemical weapons is unacceptable” (The New Times, April 29).

Appeals to the world’s conscience will only be effective if those making them are themselves not guilty of breaking international law on a regular basis. Or if they were not providing safe haven to génocidaires, ensuring they escape the justice their victims deserve.
