Editor, RE: "Emerusenge on her career as a sign language translator” (The New Times, April 27).

So proud to read about Ms. Emerusenge in The New Times!

VSO Rwanda has been working with Gisele Emerusenge for a number of years as part of our work in the disability movement in Rwanda over the last 10 years, including with RNUD. Her role is so vital. But we need more interpreters, and deaf people and their families need more support to learn sign language, that’s why the dictionary is so important—we must get RSL in to schools and the community.
