Optic fiber network key to Smart Kigali

Indeed, there must be proper coordination in planning for the infrastructure; one key crosscutting element the author forgot to mention is the much needed optic fiber network that is required to ensure that Smart Kigali City is truly a connected broadband city.

RE: "Give Kigali an integrated infrastructural planning body” (The New Times, April 23). Indeed, there must be proper coordination in planning for the infrastructure; one key crosscutting element the author forgot to mention is the much needed optic fiber network that is required to ensure that Smart Kigali City is truly a connected broadband city.

Liquid Telecom has invested millions of US dollars in optic fiber and we see this being destroyed on a daily basis. Caution has to be exercised while planning for road infrastructure with total respect for the much needed utilities' infrastructure.

Exactly, I have seen captivating pavements and roadside greenery being dug up and re-dug (a year or two later) for fiber cables and still wonder what's wrong with the initial laying of cable.
