Peace Cup holders Rayon Sports thumped second division side Rugende Training Centre 9-0 in the 1/16th round first leg on Wednesday at Kigali Stadium.

The goals came from Malian international Tidiane Kone in the 16th minute, Lomami Frank in the 22nd and 44th minutes, and Burundian import Shassir Nahimana (a hat-trick in the 37th, 84th and 90+3 minutes).

Defender Jean Pierre Bugingo put through his own net before Idrissa Nizeyimana sealed the resounding win with his first goal for the club in the 90+2 minute.

Elsewhere, AS Kigali managed a 1-0 win away to Heroes FC at Kicukiro Stadium; Etoile de l’est held SC Kiyovu to a 1-all draw in Ngoma; Amagaju FC won 2-1 away to Akagera in Rwinkavu; AS Muhanga thrashed Vision JN 4-0 in Rubavu; while Miroplast FC lost 0-2 to Gicumbi at Stade Mironko.

On Tuesday, APR FC beat Vision FC 3-0 at Mumena Stadium with Djamal Mwiseneza, Maxime Sekamana and Onesme Twizerimana on target.

The second leg of the 1/16th round will be played in the mid-week of April 25 and 26.
